The US is trying to expand its influence in Kazakhstan through peace training programs. Alexander Sternik, director of the third department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told RIA Novosti.

Information about the opening of a “NATO center” in Kazakhstan has already appeared on social networks. However, the country's military ministry denied this information. It turned out that we are talking about the new conference hall of the Center for Peacekeeping Operations of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

According to Sternik, military, police and civilian personnel have been trained there since 2006. according to NATO standards in preparation for participation in UN peace support operations. He called the information about the opening of a “NATO center” incorrect.

The representative of the State Department believes that with such actions the United States is trying to “advertise” itself in order to expand its influence in Kazakhstan on training programs for peacekeeping troops and military personnel.

Sternik noted that we are not talking about the presence of American military personnel and their infrastructure on the territory of Kazakhstan. All CSTO members undertake not to deploy military contingents of third countries without agreement with their allies.
