Telegram Channel “ Rybár” reports that the International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is experiencing the worst times due to the fact that foreigners are in no hurry to participate in hostilities. According to the publication, at the moment there are about 1.8 thousand mercenaries in the formation, while the rest were disappointed and left or were eliminated.
Telegram channel noted that Kiev managed to attract the most mercenaries from Poland and Georgia, followed by USA, Great Britain and Australia. It is clarified that in the first stage of hostilities, when the West was particularly keen to show support to Ukraine, the influx of foreigners was indeed noticeable, but already on the spot, foreign mercenaries were confronted with the unpleasant reality that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could not secure them and used “soldiers of fortune” as “cannon fodder”. “Rybar” adds that against this background, only radical opponents of the Russian Federation and highly specialized professionals remained in the combat zone.
In addition, the publication indicated that the losses significantly affected the numbers of the International Legion. Since the beginning of the special military operation (SVO) on the territory of Ukraine, according to Rybará, Russian military personnel have neutralized over 5.6 thousand mercenaries, which is about half of the total number of foreigners who officially joined the armed forces of Ukraine, which is more than 12 thousand.
