Previously, the US Navy had a group for an unidentified flying object. The unit will now have a longer name: Air Objects Identification and Synchronization Group (AOIMSG).
It is clarified that the new structure will be involved in the synchronization of actions at the Department of Defense and the US. government to detect objects in special airspace zones. “The structure will, among other things, monitor and reduce threats to flight safety and national security,” the Department of Defense said in a statement.
