CEO Nord Stream 2 AG Matthias Warnig stated that construction work on the Nord Stream 2 project could be completed in August 2021.
In an interview with Handelsblatt, he stated that 98% of the pipeline had already been completed.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva previously said that Kiev is able to stop Nord Stream 2. Ukrainian authorities, however, fear the creation of new gas pipelines. Therefore, Kiev does not rule out that “this project will be followed by new projects.”
In the meantime, it was previously known that Germany and the US could reach agreements on Nord Stream-2. If this happens, Ukraine will receive energy assistance if it loses its role as a transit country for gas.
