At least four people from the top five electoral lists “United Russia” is not planned to go to the State Duma. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Kommunarka Hospital chief physician Denis Protsenko and Talent and Success head Elena Shmeleva intend to resign, RBC said, citing sources close to the Kremlin.
The Ombudsman for Children Anna Kuznetsova may become the only candidate on the list to take over the mandate. Convening VIII is expected to take the place of Vice-Chairwoman in the State Duma. Everything will be decided definitively after Vladimir Putin's talks with the leaders of the United Russia party list, tentatively this will happen next Monday, September 27.
Earlier this week, Deputy Secretary-General of the Party's General Council, Sergei Perminov, said that consultations were indeed under way in “United Russia” on the possible rejection of Lavrov and Shoig from the deputy mandates.
