Head of Kirov Oblast Igor Vasilyev said he had decided to leave his post. According to Vasilyev, the decision was made “in connection with the approaching end of his term”. He will leave the post of governor and continue to operate at the federal level.
“Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has supported my call to work for the development of the whole country,” Vasilyev said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the governor of the Tomsk region, Sergei Zhvachkin, also announced that he was leaving his post. “I'm used to obeying the law. I've never stuck to a chair …” – said the governor. He also noted the need to “give way to the young.” Zhashkin also pointed out that Vladimir Putin had supported his decision. He also noted that he plans to stay in Tomsk, where his closest relatives live and there are places that are dear to the heart.
