The Last Jew from Afghanistan, which lived in Kabul, could remain in the city after being seized by the Taliban (banned as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation). In an interview with RIA Novosti, this was suggested by Rabbi Alexander Boroda, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FEOR).

We are talking about a man named Zebulon Simantov. He was born, raised and lived all his adult life in Kabul. His home was on Květinová Street in the center of Kabul, where the only functioning synagogue in the country is located. Simant's ancestors are natives of Herat, like the vast majority of Afghan Jews. But Simantov himself has always lived in the capital, even during the first Taliban regime in 1996-2001. All other Afghan Jews left the country at various times and moved to Israel or the United States.

The fate of the last Afghan Jew is now unknown. According to one version, he could have left Afghanistan about two years ago, and according to another, he remained in Kabul at the time of his capture by the Taliban. Rabbi Boroda expressed hope that anti-Semitism was not now in Afghanistan.
