Official representative Foreign Service European Union (EU) Peter Stano, in response to Lenta.ru's request, said that the EU took note of Russian President Vladimir Putin's signature on the law on canceling the notification to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe about the introduction of a state of emergency or martial law in the country.
< p> As Stano noted, the Union takes note of the amendments to Russian legislation, but indicated that Russia remains bound by its obligations arising from the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and other treaties to which it is a party.
EU Representative for foreign policy also added that the Union reiterates its call to respect, protect and implement relevant obligations under international human rights law.
