The EU calls on Turkey to take a stronger stance on Russia

The EU institutions have called on Turkey to take a more determined stance on Russia. As Oliver Varhelyi, a member of the European Commission's Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, explained, this is particularly the case with the sanctions imposed on Moscow by Western countries. “The EU welcomes Turkey's constructive role in de-escalating the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, we call on the Turkish authorities to be more vigilant in preventing circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions, ”& ndash; Varheli noted that his words are quoted by Teletrader.

Recall that Moscow, Kyiv and Ankara have previously agreed on a preliminary scheme for the export of agricultural products by sea, which are stored in Ukrainian ports. According to preliminary agreements, the Turkish navy will accompany Ukrainian dry cargo ships with grain to neutral waters. Such a regime for the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports could be approved this week.
