Chapter Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko said that the Danish company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners intends to lease one of the North Kuril Islands – Shumshu.
The company specializes in renewable energy sources. He wants to use the island to produce hydrogen using wind energy. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is ready to invest up to $ 2.5 billion in the project. The governor said that “serious negotiations are taking place”. He reminded that the North Kurils do not belong to the disputed territories, so there is nothing to stop us from planning these islands.
