At the request of Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko to receive compensation for the delay in commissioning the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BNPP), there is no political background. The head of state always protects the interests of his companies. This was stated by State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa, quoted by Lenta.ru.
“…Lukashenko… always protects his businesses. This is the norm for Belarus when Lukashenko delves into the affairs of economic entities…» — Chepa noted.
The politician added that he does not see a political motive in the incident.
Earlier it was reported that Minsk demanded compensation from Moscow in connection with the delay in commissioning the BelNPP.
In March, it was announced that the Cabinet of Ministers of Belarus ordered the signing of a protocol with the Russian Federation on a loan for the construction of a nuclear power plant. The Russian side must agree on the draft protocol in the intergovernmental agreement on the loan for the construction of the Belarusian NPP.
