Roman Putin, 41, a Russian businessman and public official who is a cousin of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has said he is withdrawing from the State Duma elections.

At the end of the year last year, Roman Putin founded Russia without Corruption, in place of the previously liquidated “People Against Corruption” party, which he led. In mid-July this year, it became clear that he had submitted documents for nomination as a candidate for deputies of the State Duma in the 214th district of St. Petersburg. He was about to run as a candidate of his own choosing.

And now, according to Zaks.ru, Roman Putin has sent TEC Statement No. 4. Today, at the session, the Territorial Electoral Commission took note of the candidate's statement and decided to consider him lost. The strength of his position as a candidate for the State Duma.

Roman Putin himself later published a video in his Instagram Story explaining the decision to withdraw from the election. “Yesterday in Moscow Meeting with my most respected person on the recommendation, I decided to resign from the election race to the State Duma,” – said the businessman.

At the same time Roman Putin promised to continue engaging in social and political activities .
