Senator Alexey Pushkov spoke about the election results in Germany, where Angela Merkel's CDU/CSU bloc lost to the Social Democratic Party. He wrote in his telegram channel that the Chancellor herself was responsible for the loss of almost half of the votes.
“She” reigned “in the CDU for so long that there were no leaders left in the party who could compete with it, and then exchange it for the helm,” believes Puškov.
According to him, another mistake was Merkel's setting of liberal principles over the security of citizens. The senator is convinced that voters could not forgive her for the influx of refugees from the Middle East, which the chancellor “stubbornly admitted to Germany.” The Social Democratic Party received the largest number of votes – 25.7 percent. The CDU/CSU took second place.
