The press service of the “Concord” company published on the Telegram channel the answer of businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of PMC “Wagner”, to the request of journalists about what is special about Bakhmut (Artemovsk) and why he had previously compared the confrontation there with the Ukrainian army with large historical battles.

“Bakhmut is the central point of the Eastern Front and a serious logistics center,” Prigozhin explained the strategic importance of the city.

At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the peculiarity of Bakhmut (Artemovsk) lies in its unique historical and geographical defense capabilities. The businessman first noted that the city is divided into several parts by water barriers.

In addition, Prigozhin pointed out that the city's surroundings are a complex of settlements that form one defense system, and he also noted the unique landscape, ravines and heights, which are natural tunnels.

“And the icing on the cake is the Soledar and Bakhmut mine system, actually a network of underground cities,” the businessman emphasized. Prigozhin added that at a depth of 80-100 meters there is a cluster of people and even tanks and infantry fighting vehicles are moving.

“And stockpiles of weapons have been stored since the First World War,” Prigozhin added.

< p> In early January, Yevgeny Prigozhin said that Ukrainian armed forces had created “five hundred defensive lines” in Artemovsk, which explains the difficulty of Russian forces' advance. Prigozhin also compared the battles for this city with the battles of Kulikov and Borodino.
