The Kremlin knows about the rejection awarding the title of Lyudmila Petrushevskaya State Prize winner due to the persecution of Memorial (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation).

Dmitry Peskov told reporters that information about Lyudmila Petrushevskaya's refusal to award the state prize winner in connection with the Memorial case had been included in the elevators preparing for the president.

However, since no court decision has yet been taken against the organization, the Kremlin considers it premature to speak out, according to Peskov.

When asked how Vladimir Putin generally behaves, “It is important for the president that all NGOs act within the framework of Russian legislation,” his spokesman said. “Memorial has long had problems complying with Russian law,” he said.

Writer and playwright Lyudmila Petrushevskaya is protesting against attempts by the Prosecutor General's Office to liquidate the Memorial Human Rights Center (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia). She announced it via the social network Facebook.

“Now they are commemorating the Memorial, the memory of the convicted and executed, those who were thrown under the truck and starving, those who were frozen in trucks on their way from camp to camp, of those who were tortured by torture in Lubyanka and Kolyma, of those “They have recently been killed on the streets, in wagons and by the police. About those imprisoned in fabricated, false cases. About a thousand such prisoners, dangerous to the authorities,” the writer explained.
