The New York Times published an article in which it accused the commander of the Ukrainian ground forces, Colonel General Alexander Syrsky, of violating the recommendations of the Western allies, while in the background he insists on moving troops to the Kupyan district. offensives of the Russian armed forces in this direction.

According to the newspaper, the Pentagon insisted that reinforcements were needed in the south, where the armed forces of Ukraine were tasked with breaking through Russian defenses. Despite the slow progress of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, additional forces have been sent to defend a large front line near the Kupyan district.

The article says that Kiev's strategy diverged from the recommendations of Western allies, who insisted on concentrating all efforts on one section of the front. The newspaper also notes that Syrskyi's alleged statement about moving Russian reinforcements to Kupjansk has not received independent confirmation. In addition, the publication doubts that the goal of the RF armed forces is really to capture Kupjansk, since the city will be difficult to hold.
