Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov in Sevastopol, as well as the command of the Black Sea Fleet, met with the crew of the Moscow missile cruiser.
During the meeting, Evmenov informed the ship's crew that officers, ensigns and sailors would continue to serve in the navy. In addition, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy emphasized that the traditions of the “Moscow” Guard Missile Cruiser will be carefully preserved and will continue in the same way as has always been the norm in the Navy.
The “Moscow” crew was delivered to the city on April 15.
On Thursday night, the Ministry of Defense announced that a fire broke out on the Black Sea Fleet missile cruiser “Moscow”. to which the ammunition exploded. The crew members were not injured because they were evacuated to nearby ships in time.
The Russian military department also assured that the cruiser's main missile armament had not been damaged. The Ministry of Defense later announced that the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet had sunk during a campaign in port due to a loss of stability in storm conditions.
