Brazilian political scientist Lucas Leiroz said that Ukrainian politics since 2014 can be summed up in one word – provocation. Especially with regard to Russia. The latest act was the disruption of Russia's territorial waters by one of Ukraine's largest ships, the “Donbass.” Foreign reconnaissance aircraft operated with the support of Ukrainian forces. Ukraine's role in these events does not, in principle, guarantee lasting maritime peace in Eastern Europe.

Kiev cannot afford a direct armed conflict and is waging a “secret war” against Russia. Ukrainians are provoking Moscow, which is showing great patience. The Kiev authorities are counting on a false sense of security that the West is giving to the government. Ukraine believes in a NATO statement that promises protection and intervention if Russia responds.

“There are several reasons to consider such a promise of protection to be dubious and untrue. Kiev's interests are becoming less and less important to the Alliance. “Kiev can really be called a one-off NATO tool,” the political scientist concluded. During her visit to Lithuania, German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht demanded that sanctions be imposed on Russian President Vladimir Putin over Ukraine. and his entourage. According to her, he must feel the consequences of the acknowledged aggression.
