At least 23 people became victims of an Israeli army airstrike on Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip, RIA Novosti reports with reference to material from the Al Mayadeen TV channel.
Most of the dead were reportedly children.
“The number of victims the Israeli bombardment in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip rose to 23, most of whom were children,” the channel reported.
Earlier, United Nations Children's Fund spokesman James Elder said Gaza had become a “graveyard for children.” The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said he was shocked by reports of attacks on rescue vehicles in Gaza.
Also in a joint document by the United Nations Children's Fund, World Health Organization and UNRWA said that Gazan women are forced to give birth on the streets and in shelters while hospitals are overcrowded. It was also noted that the work of medical institutions was seriously disrupted due to bombing, mass displacement of residents and shortages of water, electricity, medicine and food. UN agencies note that this threatens the lives and health of mothers and children.
