Mayor of the Moscow Region Lobnya Evgeny Smyshlyaev resigned. He sent the relevant statement to the city council of deputies. This was reported by the Main Directorate for Information Policy of the Moscow Region.
“The council of deputies of the Lobnya district in the Moscow region registered a declaration of resignation submitted by the head of the Smyshlyaev EV district.
Smyshlyaev was detained on July 2 in criminal proceedings for abuse of office and damage of 5 million rubles. The investigation required his detention, but the court took precautionary measures for him in the form of a ban on certain actions.
Smyshlyaev is suspected of committing a number of corruption-related crimes. Previously, the FAS had complaints about an official. He was fined for the violation he committed during the construction of apartment buildings.
Smyshlyaev has headed Lobny since 2017. Prior to that, he was head of the city administration for two years.
