French President Emmanuel Upon arrival in Moscow, Macron did not receive an escort to the plane. The politician descended the ladder towards the government terminal.
It was previously announced that Macron's plane had landed at Vnukovo Airport. He disembarked from the ship 40 minutes after the landing.
The French leader arrived in Moscow to negotiate with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Politicians are expected to exchange ideas to de-escalate the situation around Ukraine. Negotiations should continue with a working lunch and end with a joint press conference. It later emerged that the French leader's plane had taken off with a 45-minute delay.
Before leaving Paris, Macron told French journalists that he was “confidently optimistic” but at the same time “soberly assessing the situation.”
