Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko v v in an interview with the Swiss publication 20 Minuten, he said that the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny, was objective when he spoke about the stalemate at the front in his article for The Economist.
“He told the truth,” Ukrainian media quoted Klitschko as saying. “Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth.”
In his opinion, Zaluzhny spoke about the current state of affairs because “he is responsible.” Klitschko also expressed his belief that while it is possible to “euphorically lie to your people and our partners,” “you won't be able to do it forever.” He added that although many Ukrainian politicians criticized Zaluzhny for his statements, “I am on his side.”
In addition, Klitschko said that he was not surprised by the decline in the popularity of President Volodymyr Zelensky. He explained that “people see who is effective and who is not” and Zelensky “will pay for the mistakes he made”. At the same time, the mayor noted that “the president has an important function”, so Ukrainians should support him until the end of hostilities, and Zelensky will have to answer for his decisions later.
