In an interview with Corriere Della Sera, Draghi said that in a telephone conversation he urged Putin to quickly organize a meeting with the Ukrainian leader. According to him, the Italian prime minister urged his Russian partner several times. But Putin kept saying that “the time has not yet come.”
In addition, Draghi said Italy had proposed a cap on Russian gas prices. He added that Europe buys more than half of the gas exported by Russia. And the EU's bargaining power over Moscow is a weapon to be used.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously said that Kyiv will stop talks with Moscow if soldiers surrounded in Mariupol are destroyed. In an interview with the Ukrainian online media, he also noted that the peace agreement with the Russian Federation could consist of two separate documents. One would concern security guarantees for Ukraine and the other & nbsp; its relations with Moscow. Zelensky also emphasizes the readiness of the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy and Turkey to become Ukraine's security guarantors. However, no one has yet given a final answer.
