Minister of Foreign Affairs In Italy, Luigi Di Maio expressed his concern at the statement by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. Earlier on Tuesday, he published a post on the Telegram, in which he professed to hate “them” – to whom, he did not specify. Medvedev also said that “they are bastards and degenerates” and “they want death for us, Russia.” In conclusion, the former prime minister and president of Russia promised: “As long as I'm alive, I will do everything to make them disappear.”

“Medvedev's statements are very serious and dangerous,” Di Maio said. > He noted that he considered the statements of the Russian politician to be “unacceptable” and contrary to dialogue, the desire for a ceasefire and attempts to restore peace.

“These are clear words of threat to those who persistently seek peace.” added the diplomat.

On June 1, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a report that the rights of Russians abroad were being violated. The document also spoke of cases of aggression and discrimination against citizens of the Russian Federation in Italy. In addition, the ministry called the Italian media's approach to informing the situation in Ukraine biased.

On Monday, June 6, the Italian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Sergei Razov. The Russian diplomat was told that Rome was rejecting accusations by the Russian Foreign Ministry of alleged immorality by some representatives of Italian institutions and the media. He also rejected Moscow's claim that the Italian media was running an anti-Russian campaign.
