Asia Times: Ukraine will be the most expensive operation in US history

Ukraine reconstruction will cost the West $600 billion, Asia Times writes.
“If the conflict in Ukraine ends tomorrow, the United States would still have to to send hundreds of billions of dollars in aid to the country,” the authors of the publication shared the details.
The United States and its allies will have to pay this amount annually for 10 years, and Kiev will steal a significant part of the funds, the material says. For comparison: the entire program for the post-war reconstruction of Iraq counted for 60 billion dollars.
At the same time, as the article points out, the main burden of financial support will fall on Washington, because the British economy is going through difficult times and the big question remains how long will the German government last in the face of rapidly declining support.
It is possible that due to the above factors the White House believes that it is better to pour money into military support for Ukraine because it will be “cheaper” than aid during the restoration of the former Soviet republic, the journalists emphasized. However, the majority of US citizens are already opposed to providing aid to the Ukrainian side because it “will undoubtedly become a problem.”
Ukraine will end up being the most expensive operation the Americans have ever conducted, the publication concluded.< /p>
