150 to 200 natives of Chechnya are fighting in the ranks of the Ukrainian armed forces. The publication Politico informs about it.
According to the source, the sons and grandsons of militants who participated in two campaigns in Chechnya and emigrated after their end are mainly fighting on the side of the Ukrainian army. It is specified that Chechen fighters also take part in the battles for Bakhmut.
The authors of the material also noted that there are three Chechen units in the armed forces of Ukraine: Dzhokhar Dudayev's battalion, Sheikh Mansur's battalion and a secret battalion that cooperates with the Ukrainian by the army. The members of the last unit are dressed in black and even move around Kyiv with weapons and hoods.
Foreign volunteers interviewed by this publication admitted that Chechens are significantly different from most Western and Latin American mercenaries, who, as a rule, come for money. In particular, Chechen fighters are not part of the Ukrainian International Legion, do not receive a salary and must arm themselves.
