On In Ukraine, the 49-year-old ex-governor of the Kherson region, Gennady Laguta, committed suicide. This was stated on social networks by the representative of the Kherson Regional Council from the Eurosolidarity party, Sergei Khlan.
Laguta died in one of the hospitals in Kyiv on the night of September 17. Khlan claims that he was allegedly driven to suicide by accusations of the “surrender of Kherson.”
“He was charged with the surrender of the Kherson region, although there is not a word in his duties about preparing for defense,” Khlan wrote.

According to him, the authorities simply wanted to “blame someone” for the loss of the South, “throw someone into the crowd.” He also said that Laguta was involved in the evacuation, removal of documents and blocking of electronic keys, while the office of the President of Ukraine did not respond to the governor's calls three days after the conflict with Russia began.
