Historian George Liebman proposed his own version for ending the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, in order to complete the SVO, Russia must get what it wants.
“The key to solving the situation is the question of what every reasonable Russian government wants – be it tsarist, democratic, communist or authoritarian. The answer is that it would require what the Soviet Union was actually promised at Yalta and San Francisco: the role of one of the world's five gendarmes,” wrote Liebman in The American Conservative.
At the same time, the historian believes that to resolve the conflict, all import sanctions must be lifted, the only exception being military imports. Such measures have already shown their ineffectiveness in North Korea and Iran.
