Yakut activist Stepan Petrov, who was included in the register of foreign media agents, was summoned to the Republican Department of Roskomnadzor, where an act of non-compliance with the requirements in connection with the recognition of a foreign agent was drafted against him. He faces a fine of 10,000 rubles.
This is the first case of drawing up an administrative protocol for a person recognized as a foreign agent. It is still unknown what Petrov is accused of – lawyers are still familiar with the materials of the case.
Stepan Petrov is the head of the public organization Yakutia – our opinion. It was entered in the register of foreign media on August 20, 2021.
Persons recognized as foreign agents must mark all their publications – even comments on social networks, and also regularly report income and expenses. In addition, they are required to register a legal entity. Failure to comply with these requirements means high fines, administrative and criminal liability.
