Adviser to the Kiev delegation in The trilateral contact group, an independent adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Oleksij Arestovich, on the TV station Ukraine 24, said that German Chancellor Angela Merkel had “given up Ukraine's interests” in favor of Russia.
According to the politician, Volodymyr Zelenský's visit to Germany and his talks with Merkel were in vain.
“They did not work because Mrs Merkel lasted seven years, but in the end she gave up some of Ukraine's interests in favor of Russia,” Arestovich said.
Zelensky did not find a “common language” with Merkel in the line issues, including the completion of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and the implementation of the “Steinmeier formula.” Arestovich and Western leaders are concerned about China's growing influence and are ready to negotiate with Russia.
