German Foreign Minister After talks with her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba, Annalena Burbock said the West was ready to suffer economic damage if sanctions were imposed on Russia.
In this regard, they have prepared a number of tough measures against Russia. According to her, Germany and other Western countries “are ready to pay a high economic price for it, because we are talking about Ukraine's security.”
She also emphasized that Germany's financial contribution to Ukraine's security was excellent. She added that Berlin was ready for various scenarios of events around Kiev and that the measures could have serious economic consequences. He said on his blog that the planned sanctions could cause serious economic damage to Moscow. The diplomat also warned that Brussels should prepare for the negative consequences for itself, especially the need to seek alternative sources of gas supply.
Strict sanctions against Russia in the event of aggression against Ukraine have also been announced in the United States and in the UK. The Western media wrote that among the discussed measures is a ban on interbank transactions in dollars for the largest Russian banks. Experts also noted that the measures will cause serious damage to Western countries themselves.
