– Nord Stream 2 operator Nord Stream 2 AG has started filling the second branch of the gas pipeline with gas. According to the company's website, the procedure began on December 17.
The line will be filled with gas gradually. This is necessary to achieve the required level of volume and pressure. A similar procedure was performed earlier with the first thread. It ended on October 18.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was not setting any dates for the pipeline. According to him, it is exclusively a matter for the regulator.
The German Federal Network Agency has previously stated that a decision on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be taken in the middle of next year at the earliest. Agency chief Jozen Homann noted that the ministry had not yet received the documents needed to continue highway certification. The process will continue once the pipeline operator provides it.
Once the regulator decides on Nord Stream 2, the European Commission will consider the matter.
