Former MP State Duma Sergei Sopchuk has been added to the international wanted list. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the former Member under the article on illegal business. This was announced on the website of the Directorate of Inquiry of the Primorian Territory.
Sopchuk was charged in absentia. An inspection was carried out at his place of residence. Law enforcement officers confiscated the documents from there.
Investigators believe that Sopchuk, a member of the State Duma, was engaged in business activities in which he attracted controlled commercial organizations.
According to During the investigation, the deputy used his statute to sponsor business and legalized the funds obtained as a result.
Sergey Sopchuk was chairman of the Primorye Legislature from 2002 to 2006. In 2016–2021 he was a member of the State Duma.
