North Koreans Forbidden to laugh, drink alcohol, bury loved ones and celebrate birthdays over the 11-day mourning for Kim Jong Il, reports Radio Free Asia. According to him, those who were caught drunk during the last mourning were arrested. Such people were called ideological criminals.
“They were taken away and never seen again,” said the resident.
He added that if someone dies during this time, the body can hold out only after the grief is over and the deceased's loved ones are forbidden to cry out loud. People should also not celebrate their mourning birthdays.
South Hwanghe, a resident of the DPRK, said that a special police unit was being set up for the mourning period to “deal with those who were damaging the mood of collective mourning.” Also at the moment, residents are obliged to help the homeless, businesses collect food for employees who cannot work due to lack of food.
Recall that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il died 10 years ago, in 2011.
