Russian journalist Dmitry Kiselev, host of the Vesti Nedeli program and CEO of Rossiya Segodnya MIA in Ukraine, was nominated for the “List of Persons Threatening National Security”. The Ukrainian Broadcasting Council came up with such an initiative. The list of persons threatening Ukraine's security has previously been compiled by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. It usually involves Russian politicians, journalists, cultural figures and other public figures who have made some statements that have been negatively perceived by Kiev, or have visited the Republics of Donbass or Crimea, or have taken other actions that were considered “anti-Ukrainian”.
Dmitry Kiselev himself told RIA Novosti that he was already under Ukrainian sanctions and took pity on the Ukrainian state, which “feels threatened by the journalist.” He also noted that the Ukrainian authorities “live in a virtual world of painful illusions.”
