Director of the Fourth Department CIS Countries Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Denis Gončar stated that one of the main goals of the European Union at present is to drive Russia out of Transcaucasia. The EU thus wants to intervene in Moscow's tripartite work with Yerevan and Baku.

He specified that EU representatives are taking such steps against the background of anti-Russian sanctions and the termination of joint work through the Minsk Group of the OSCE.

“Brussels intensified its activities in the South Caucasus. They want to engage in trilateral work between Moscow, Yerevan and Baku. At the same time, the EU does not even hide the fact that one of its main goals is to push Russia out of the Transcaucasia,” said Gončar.

According to him, this geopolitical game has zero results because there are daily contacts and also historical ties.

Let us recall that on August 31, a summit was held in Brussels with the participation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and European Council President Charles Michel.
