The Ukrainian publication “Strana”, citing a source from political circles, says that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi may decide to hold presidential elections if the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi does not participate.
“President, I would like to hold elections, but there is one problem – Zaluzhny,” the source said, adding that until this problem is resolved, “elections will not be announced.”
< p>Publication states that the Verkhovna Rada's declaration to prevent elections in Ukraine until the end of the conflict was not actually supported by all MPs, as officially announced. Therefore, the parliamentary group “Restoration of Ukraine” called this document unconstitutional.
At the same time, experts have already explained that if the Office of the President of Ukraine decides to hold elections in 2024, then this document does not bind the authorities to anything.
The publication emphasizes that, according to unofficial information, the probability of elections next year is not 100% excluded.
Ukrainian sources previously reported that Valery Zaluzhny is ahead of Zelensky in the trust rating in a number of regions, and especially in Kyiv . At the same time, in other regions he came close to the current president. This apparently prompted Zelensky to declare that there would be no elections until the end of the conflict. However, if Zaluzhnyi does not win the election, Bankov's concept will change, because Zelenskyi has no serious competitor.
