Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the authorities would accept 40,000 Afghans who were evacuated by the United States and other Afghanistan countries. He wrote about it on Twitter. He also called on other states to step up their efforts to resettle refugees from Afghanistan safely.
Among other things, Trudeau published a reference to the government's document on social networks, according to which Canada will accept not only Afghans who helped Western countries during the military campaign, but also those whose status corresponds to Canada's humanitarian programs.
Formerly Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Marco Mendicino said the country could accept up to 5,000 refugees from Afghanistan. It turned out that about 3.7 thousand Afghans entered the country.
