Head of EU Diplomacy Josep Borrell commented on the halt in the flow of migrants to the European Union across the border with Belarus. He called it a “major achievement.”
At a press conference in Brussels after a meeting of EU foreign ministers, he described the crisis in Ethiopia and the lack of a proper European Union response to the crisis in Ethiopia as the main disappointment of the year. At the same time, it was possible to achieve “major success” in stopping the crisis on the border with Belarus, “Borrell said.
“We managed to stop the flow of migrants to Belarus and from Belarus to the European Union … Lukashenko was unable to achieve his goals. He's in trouble today. Together with the European Foreign Policy Service, we have done a good job, “he said.
Borrell added that the EU maintained contacts with 24 countries from which migrants were brought to Belarus.
