The US leader has instructed Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to reach a political settlement in Afghanistan. “I have ordered the Foreign Minister to support Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and other Afghan leaders in their efforts to prevent further bloodshed and reach a political settlement,” he said.
The US Department of Defense has announced that the US military has begun moving more forces to Kabul.
According to Ghani, the Afghan authorities are consulting with international partners on the situation in the country.
