According to the Axios portal, US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping may announce the restoration of relations between the militaries of the two countries after meeting on the sidelines of the APEC summit, which will be held in San Francisco from November 11 to 17.
The publication notes that this is important in light of the Biden administration's desire to bring more stability to relations between Washington and Beijing and reduce the risk of military incidents.
Recall that military communication channels were suspended by China last year in protest of then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.
At the same time in June, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken raised the issue during a visit to Beijing, but failed to get Chinese officials to restore the channels. But sources say Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made it clear during a visit to Washington last week that China is ready to reopen lines of communication.
The White House declined to comment on the matter.
