A rally demanding Armenia's withdrawal from the CSTO is being held in Yerevan's France Square in connection with the escalation of the situation on the border with Azerbaijan.
According to Novosti-Armenia AMI, the rally was organized by the National Democratic Pole and the European Party.< /p>
Many event attendees came to the event with US flags and national flags. Some hold slogans in English “Goodbye CSTO, welcome MNNA” (“Major non-NATO ally”, a term for US allies outside the alliance). A number of attendees chanted insults against the CSTO.
The rally comes against the backdrop of a visit to Armenia by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who told a briefing on behalf of Congress that she condemned Azerbaijan's actions. It also promised support to Armenia.
At the same time, a CSTO mission group led by Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov is currently deployed in Armenia.
Previously, the Minister of Security of the Armenian Council, Armen Grigoryan, expressed disappointment with the CSTO's response to the conflict with Azerbaijan.
