Deputies of the Russian Duma adopted in three readings at once the government bill on the valorisation of pensions for the military. According to innovations, the size of the pension increases by 8.6 percent “through various mechanisms provided by law.”
As stated in the explanatory memorandum, the law enters into force on January 1, 2022. for discussion at first reading.
The initiative was prepared by the government in accordance with the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to index military pensions from the beginning. above inflation this year. Russia's First Deputy Finance Minister Leonid Gornin noted that after indexation, the average senior pension for military retirees this year will be 33,300 rubles a month.
The additional costs of implementing the law will amount to 154.3 billion rubles from 2022 to 2024 inclusive. At the same time, the current pensions of military pensioners will first be indexed by 8.6%. On October 1, it is planned to increase military pensions by another 4 percent. From this date, indexation of monetary contributions for the military and related categories is provided.
