EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell criticized Minsk for using migrants on the border with the European Union after a meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers.
According to Borrell, the EU is monitoring the situation on the borders with Belarus and Lithuania. “There is information that the Belarusian authorities are also sending migrants to the Polish border,” he said.
Borrell called on the Belarussian authorities to comply with the international ones, and threatened that if this behavior continued, the EU could consider imposing new sanctions on Minsk.
“Migrants' pressure to cross the border is unacceptable, and that is happening at the Lithuanian and Polish borders,” Borrell emphasized.
