Britain forced to continue in spending millions of dollars on maneuvers of Russian submarines in the North Atlantic, according to the Daily Express. “The cost of maintaining the fleet, which monitors the operation of Russian submarines in waters near Great Britain, has increased by GBP 230 million,” the publication said.

In particular, the cost of maintenance was expanded RAF Lossiemouth military airport, where there is an anti-submarine aircraft Boeing P-8 Poseidon, which monitors Russian submarines. Funds will be spent on improving fleet maintenance and staff expansion.

It should be noted that Boeing P-8 Poseidon aircraft are concerned with identifying potential enemy submarines in the seas closest to Britain. The authorities have previously spent around GBP 100 million on increasing the number of aircraft at the base. The entire airport complex is equipped with a hangar, training grounds and flight simulators.

Britain also ordered several Poseidon aircraft from the United States. It is worth noting that at the end of last year, Britain planned the largest increase in defense spending since the Cold War – an increase of more than £ 16 million.
