The 74-year-old French politician, former defense minister and now foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called Russia a difficult neighbor, but also pushed for dialogue with Moscow.
“Sometimes neighbors are unbearable, there are neighbors who bother you, but they remain your neighbors,” Le Drian told RTL. In this regard, he called for all ways to act together for common interests.
“Therefore, in any case, we must continue to talk to this neighbor,” Le Drian added.
As an example, he held talks in the “2 + 2” format between the Foreign and Defense Ministers of Russia and France, who said that the meeting did not go well, but the main thing was that it did.
