Klaipeda District Court Lithuania sentenced two citizens of the republic. They were found guilty of spying for Russia. The BNS reported that one of the defendants was Aleksejus Greicius, director of the Baltic Youth Union Juvenis. He was sentenced to four years in prison. Greicius did not admit his guilt.
The second defendant, Mindaugas Tunikaitis, was jailed for a year and a half. He confessed to what he had done.
Both men were accused of cooperating with the Russian FSB. They did not know each other, but according to the investigation, they were supervised by a Russian agent.
Investigators believe that the FSB officer worked in the Kaliningrad region. Greicius and Tunikaitis collected information according to his instructions and passed it on for a reward.
According to the file, Tunikaitis lived on the border with the Kaliningrad region and often traveled there. On one of his trips, he was recruited by a Russian special service, during which he filmed objects and gathered information for six years.
Once investigated, he confessed to espionage, repented, and helped investigate the Russian side's intelligence activities.
