Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin reprimanded Finance Minister Anton Siluanov at a meeting of the State Duma to reduce metal prices. An emotional dialogue was captured in the video.
Volodin asked Andrei Makarov, head of the finance ministry and chairman of the Committee on Budgets and Taxes, how the adoption of a law on excise duties on steel would help stabilize. He suggested that the adoption of the standard could lead to further enrichment of some manufacturers.
“Others will pay even more for metal. Companies that work on raw materials will benefit from the fact that those who work by melting the metal will leave the market, “stressed the chairman of the State Duma.
Volodin demanded an explanation of how the industry would be protected. In addition, he asked if people would suffer.

Makarov expressed the belief that the new law did not pose a risk to rising metal prices. He noted that the problems expressed by Volodin Anton Siluanov again explained that the purpose of the law is to withdraw surplus profits for producers and transfer funds to the budget. They will focus on social needs.
“So our social programs, which we anticipate in the three-year budget, will be financed, including through this additional revenue, “said the Chief Minister of Finance.
