American Republican Group senators have come up with a proposal to add sanctions against Nord Stream 2 to the country's defense budget. This was announced by Jim Risch, a member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.
He stated that, together with his colleagues, he had introduced “amendments aimed at stopping Nord Stream 2” into the US Defense Subsidies Act for next year. They are obliged to impose sanctions on the pipeline operator.
Recall that an earlier issue of Politico reported that the current US administration did not intend to impose sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline during Joe Biden's presidency. This decision provokes widespread controversy in the Senate.
