Russian President Dmitry Peskov's press secretary said that the head of state took the coronavirus situation long ago. According to him, the main thing has been done in Russia – citizens have the opportunity to protect themselves by vaccination.
A Kremlin spokesman also noted that the level of vaccination in the country is “disproportionately low”. For this reason, there is a high mortality rate in Russia.
Asked by journalists about the possibility of imposing fines for refusing vaccination, Peskov said that such measures are “unrealistic in our country”. In his view, fines would undermine the social character of the state.
Peskov noted that everything depends only on the awareness of citizens, who must understand that there is no other way to protect their lives other than getting vaccinated.
